The Challenge
Following the acquisition of over 30 companies, Dye & Durham faced the challenge of creating a unified user experience across a diverse range of products. With multiple branding styles and disparate systems, the goal was to consolidate offerings into a single cohesive solution: The Unity Platform. Additionally, the company needed to develop and launch two complex applications, SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax - HMRC) and DRS (Digital Registration Service - HMLR), under strict regulatory deadlines. Simultaneously, improvements were required for three Customer Matter Systems (CMS), including Brighter Law, alongside billing consolidation within The Core Platform to unify the overall experience.
Previous Approach
Prior efforts involved engaging external teams to maintain UX design consistency across platforms. However, a comprehensive and scalable unified UX strategy had not yet been fully implemented.
Impact of the Challenge
- Risk of delays in launching critical applications and platform updates
- Fragmented and inconsistent user experience across acquired products
- Inefficiencies in design and development processes
The Solution
I was engaged as the UX & UI Lead Designer to lead the transformation, drive consistency, and align user experiences across all applications. Key activities included:
- Conducting a comprehensive UX audit of existing platforms
- Developing a strategic roadmap for platform unification
- Performing competitor analysis to benchmark best practices
- Help the wider teams adopt Artificial Intelligence in their workflows
- Leading the UX and UI design of the SDLT and DRS applications
- Designing the Unity Platform Landing Page
- Collaborating with the Development Team to Craft the UI Front-end
- Collaborating closely with global and contingency teams to ensure scalable solutions
